Eliza Battle Smoked Porter
A Cherry Wood Smoked Molasses Porter.Moderately strong yet having a balanced flavor. Having a restrained roasty character and bitterness and very often having a chocolate-caramel profile. The porter, having its origins in London during the industrial revolution of the early 1800s, was the working man’s beer. This is due primarily to the fact that the working man of that day was called a porter. The smokiness of this style was derived from the brewing malts being roasted over open heat with coke as the fuel source. Today we use different types of wood to get that smoky flavor and in this case, Cherrywood. The porter was President George Washington’s favorite beer style. IBU: 31.1 ABV: 6.8
